Adventures of Jacqui and Paul
The Great Wall....
It was an early start and a long coach journey to the Great Wall of China! When we got there it was absolutely boiling as it was about midday. We climbed to the top of the wall which completely knackered all of us and I was about ready to give up just after that climb! The views were amazing, just like the pictures you see, absolutely stunning and its so much longer than you imagine, it seems like it goes on forever. So after taking it all in we started the 4 and a half our trek to where we were staying a good few miles away. It was probably the hardest thing I have ever done. It was so hot and the ground was all broken and we actually had to climb in some parts, it was probably quite dangerous, if you fell or slipped that would have been it. It was constant steps up and down, up and down, it was so tiring, I got through so many bottles of water. By the end though it was definitely worth it and I am so glad I did it. It was lovely as there weren't many tourists around at all as we picked a part of the wall which hadn't had the restoration done to it so isn't as popular with tourists, which was better because it was the real thing. When we reached the end Paul and I got on a zip wire across the river which was very scary but I was so exhausted I didn't really think of the danger. We were all harnessed up and it was so fun. We then boarded a little boat which took us to our youth hostel which was situated at the foot of the Great Wall. Such an amazing location. We only spent one night here which was a shame as it was beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our Great Wall experience.
