This weekend we left early on Friday morning to head north to the Flinders Ranges and to Wilpena Pound National Park to do some hiking and sightseeing with our fellow Canuck, Chance. We woke up this Mother's Day morning to sunshine so we headed to the Murray River with Rachelle, Darren and Milly for a cruise up the river in the boat and a campfire lunch. It was amazing! Layla has started playing netball this month. It is an all-girl sport similar to handball and basketball. She has had to two games and about 4 practices. Her first game was a bit tough because she had to ride the bench for the first half and her nails were too long but the last game, this weekend was much better. We drove on the next day to Port Lincoln and checked out the fishing boats and had a bite to eat along the foreshore. It is a beautiful town. We then drove north again to Cowell where we stayed the night at a caravan park with a pool!! Layla was elated. We had to stay in Cowell so we could catch the ferry from Lucky Bay to Wallaroo the next day and get home to see how our chooks fared without us. We drove North from Baird Bay on our way to Streaky Bay and stopped at Point Westall to see some of the most amazing beaches and scenery I've ever seen. We also got to see some surfers out in the ocean along the Great Australian Bight (shark waters!!) Our stop in Streaky Bay wasn't too long, just a bite to eat at a local pub and a tour of the Streaky Bay Shark exhibit where the largest shark ever caught by a line was ever landed.
