Just before setting off to get the bus to Nazca, another traveler in the hostel told me of some French tourists that got killed when one of their flights over the Nazca lines crashed into the ground. This didn´t stop me emerging bleary eyed after an overnight bus and taking a lift straight to the airport. The Nazca lines are a mix of shapes and images of animals etched onto a vast dester plateau. Before the flight we watched a video of possible meanings of the lines but I was far too tired to take much interest, especially as half the theories were made by psychologically disturbed people thinking they were messages from aliens. The flight itself was really good despite the pilot making sharp banking turns to give us good angles for photos.
In all I spent only five hours in Nazca before getting a bus up to Lima. The town itself is very hot and dusty with little else to do.
