Texas is hot. It was probably over 40 degrees every day we were there. Downtown was really nice and when you walk down the river walk you wouldn't know you were in Texas, the River walk is a stretch of the river in down town that has restaurants and bars along it. The first night we went for a walk along the River walk and got dinner at a steak house, Chris and I both got steaks but Chris didn't read the menu and ended up getting a 24 ounce steak (he nearly finished it)they were both delicious. We stopped in at the Menger bar for a drink, this is where Theodore Roosevelt recruited guys for the Army, it is now part of the Menger Hotel, it is directly across the road from the Alamo. The next day we got up and asked the lady at the desk for directions to the AT&T Centre (Spurs Home Stadium), she said turn left and it is 15 minutes down the road, she didn't know that we were walking. After walking for about 25 minutes and seeing no sign of the stadium we stopped at a petrol station and asked him for directions, the guy said we were on the right road and it was probably a mile away. We walked for another 20 minutes and asked again for direction and this guy said it was only 5 blocks away, eventually we got there, only to find that the lady who runs the tours had just gone on her lunch break and wouldn't be back for an hour. The mention of lunch made us a bit hungry so we caught the bus back to Downtown and got something to eat, we headed back to the motel and called the AT&T centre again only to find out that tours had finished for the day and the next one wouldn't be until after the weekend. After learning the bad news we headed to the Alamo, the Alamo is free to get in and takes about an hour to have a look around. We went back to the River walk for dinner that night and headed back to our motel to pack our bags
