I'm entranced by Irish voices - the lilt and lightness, they so nearly sing that I smile all the time. I find myself echoing it a little, and wonder how long it would take before I started sounding like them! Lovely tenor voices and sopranos - fewer low voices, but many with great warmth and humor - and they love to talk. No one walks past you without speaking, and we do the same. The photo above is Ann, who runs a wonderful B&B. I loved her speaking voice and the way she used it, so I asked if I could take her picture. When I told her why I wanted it she was so happy! She sings, and her husband, Finbar(!) also sings, and they met in a choir, and Finn still sings in the pub, and Ann put together a group of women that sings in the Community Hall every Sunday evening. They loved talking about music and how important it is in their lives. I made new friends with just one simple request. A wonderful country!
