I arrived in Chitwan after a very bumpy journey from Pokhara. I tried not to think of the ravines and rivers centimetres from the edge of the road (with no barriers in between). I arrived at the bus park without much of a plan but I had a local recommendation for a 'resort'. Fortunately I was able to find the resort and get a room with minimal hassle.
Most people who venture down to Chitwan book packages including a whole range of activities. As my time was limited and I was still tired from my sickness, I opted to just do an elephant-back safari through the national park. I was lucky enough to see two rhinos in their natural habitat and many, many deer.
The national park borders northern India, so there was a great deal of influence from the country compared to other parts of Nepal. The clothes, food and general appearance of the Chitwan residents was very similar to those seen in India.
I head back to Kathmandu today in preparation for my long journey home!
