Yesterday we arrived back in Wales and drove to the Brecon-Beacons National Park. We stopped in Llandovery (Welsh is a funny language, there are lots of places that start with Ll which is pronounced "fl"!). Llandovery is a beautiful village with a ruined castle and a great playground! Then we came to Brecon which is also a very pretty town, where we stayed in a B&B in a very old building. This is the 4th B&B so far! Today we drove to Devon, through the Brecon Beacons National Park. We stopped at Cyfartha Castle the former home of the Crawshay family, historical ironmasters of Cyfarthfa Ironworks in Park, Merthyr Tydfil, Wales. Despite appearing superficially to be a fortified building it is a house built in the style of a large mansion. The castle stands in 158 acre of parkland, which includes an amazing playground and water park as well as a miniature railway. It was too cold and wet to play in the water park, but we did play in the playground and went for a ride on the train.
Then back in the car to Exeter where Geoff picked up his suit for the wedding, and on through the Dartmoor National park to Tavistock. On the way we saw sheep, cattle and ponies on the moors.
