Today I went to see the glaciers in Iceland, first we were on a big bus with wheels almost as tall as me. We got a tour to the klaki base camp were they do the summer tours and hade a stop to for a bit of fresh air but i had way more of a journey ahead. When I came back we went up a steep yet bumpy hill. Bearing in mind every thing was covered in snow it was even snowing in the truck! Once we got up the hill we got out of the truck and it was very windy so the snow was blowing every we’re. We were first walking into a tunnel into the glacier we’re we put on crampons. A glacier is a body of water that is compacted snow and ice that have formed over many years. You can also learn by the lines that the depth of each ring of ice told us how bad the weather was. Once we hade them on we went through the glacier tunnels and my brother started liking the ice and the water from the ice walls. In the glacier there was a chapel, a crevasse witch is a a split in the ice and tunnels with l.e.d lights. The tour guide told us a story in the chapel that some people got married in their and the lady put on high heels and walk down the complete and solid isle of ice. Then when we left the weather wasn’t so good it was still windy and snow was flying every were and the truck was getting blown all over the place and kept getting stuck in the deep snow but after a little will we got back to our first destination. At the back of the into the glacier meeting point was a whole load of snow, a sea saw and a few tire swings. Me and my brother were playing in the snow and got freezing cold. Once we finished we went to the car and headed of to the next hotel : Hotel varmahlid.
