Well, it's been a while to say the least so lets try and sum up the last two months as briefly as possible. It shouldn't be too hard because I havn't done too much other than work and save for the next part of my trip, which i'm still doing and will be for a little longer yet.
Anyhow, all went well with the flights here, apart from Australia's contamination checks. I was told that taking a penknife and leatherman tool onto the plane wasn't issue but had to take out my lip piercing so it could be inspected, like it was a weapon of mass destruction! Also, due to a blade of grass and a little bit of mud on my boots they had to be sprayed clean and i was threatened with a $200 fine if i did this again. Found out that the night i had arrived on was Mardi Gras, so it was a quick change and into Sydney to meet Jaimie and watch the parade.
Thousands of people lined the streets and every apartment block had people huddled onto the balconies, the night was a mixture of Jaime being on my shoulders and standing on milck crates to get a view. Everyone was on show, from Dykes on Bikes to Thai Lady Boys, muscular old homosexuals to nancy boys in thongs, flamboyant transvestites to the gay prostitutes and everything in between. All parading to the songs of George Michael and Boy George. The colours were amazing, the atmosphere electric and it all contributed to a night i'll never forget. Also found a lads phone on the pavement that night and met him to hand it back, my reward.......a 4 pack of Viagra!
Seen all the stereotypical sites since i've been here and the Opera House is an amazing building! With the Harbour Bridge as a abckdrop it makes a hell of a view, but I never realised it was three seperate buildings until I got to the front of it. Been heading to Bondi on most of my days off, being that it's only a short trip on the tube it's a great place to spend the day. Plenty of waves to act like a 5yr old in and permanent Sun to laze around in.
Other than that, went to see an Aussie Rules game between Sydeny Swans and Melbourne and was pretty surprised at how much i enjoyed. Its alot easier to understand than i thought it would be and not as stop/start as i thought it would be. Sydney ended up winning and the game was a corker. Also went to see the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and that was an awesome gig! Bit disappointed with the song selection (not much of the old stuff) and with the encore but seeing them live was brilliant, Frusciante live is amazing!
Other than im working in a bar on the main stretech in the city and hunting for work during the day to save the pennies for the leg. Living with my friend Jaimie at the moment until she goes back to Canada in a month or so. Just outside the city centre but still walking distance from it, so an ideal situation. Not too much to say all in all but thought i better update this anyhow.
Oh and let me not forget.......been paying close attention to teh Champions League! Never mind Chelsea, you can always come to Anfield if you want to see the trophy up close!
