So here I sit in a bus depot eagerly awaiting a 10 hour bus/ferry ride to go to Koh Samui. The wedding or weddings were yesterday. The first one was the Buddhist wedding and it was a different 3 hour long wedding. Yea 3 hours long!!!! But hey thats why you travel, and I would be lying if I said I didn't look at my iPod a couple times. The wedding consisted of numerous ceremonies, there were gift offerings, picture taking, blessings from monks, more picture taking, respects paid to the elders and parents, and if I didn't mention it was an Asian wedding there was even more picture taking. I am sure that i may have not got the names quite right, but you got an idea of what went on. Surprisingly it didn't feel like a 3 hour wedding, so it went by pretty fast. From there we had lunch and a couple hours break in-between before the Christian wedding.
While the wedding was scheduled to be outside, the rain put a slight damper on the festivities; however the wedding went on without a hitch and in my opinion was a really beautiful wedding. We even just about got a few tears out of the groom from the speeches. Not surprisingly rob held it together, not because he was ashamed, more of "I can't do this in front of my friends", type of thing. It's a guy thing, I think!
From there another short break and then dinner and the reception. Supposedly at the reception, I might have gotten a little drunk (open bar), and made quite a fool out of myself. From what I remember I kicked some Asian ass Canada style on the dance floor; I constantly spilt my drink (open bar meh), and then proceeded to do the worm. Gee I wonder where all those stains came from. I then - since the waiters couldn't keep up - grabbed a bottle of barcardi from the bar and started to bartend for myself and others. After the reception, I debated an American who was a republican, on the facts of Canada's healthcare system, and the so-called greatest country in the world lack there of. Let's just say 1 point Canada. So just your typical end to a night of drinking.
The next day I had to kill 10 hours before my bus which left at 9 pm, of which is hard to do in 30 plus degree weather, with all your bags. So I killed the hours in numerous fast food places, until I decided to walk the 2.5 kms to the bus stop in order to kill more time. All of which was done with a small but very annoying hangover headache. Oh well, 10 baht later (about 30 cents) I bought a ten pack of tylenol and solved that.
So now I am in Soh Saumi, and will blog on it in a couple days. Good night all.
