Ahhh the Tranquillo. How nice it looks to you unsuspecting viewers. And it was, fabulous, a 45ft yaucht marooned on some tropical islands for 10 days..what could be better???? Truely a lovely time, it was only the crew that marred the experience for Nina.
It all started wonderfully with Ian, Nina, tates, kells and Mike loading on alochol and getting excited about the adventure of a sail from Panama to Columbia, so convenient especially for hopalong Ian who couldn´t walk. The seasiskness was bearable, the waves were big. The islands were beautiful, coconut palms and whaite sands and sun and noone else at all..the dolphins were special it was great.
New Years Eve was unforgettable, a party on a deserted island with an internatinal crowd of boaty people and Kuna Indians all dancing to a soundtrack of 70´s tunes and Mike Macguire and the Bandaids. A lot of rum was consumed. Ian and CJ built an amazing fire which lasted well in to 2007. A jolly time was had by all.
Unfortunately, the weather gods were not on our side, the sea gods did not accanet our offerings and the trade winds stayed at gale force and the waves at 20ft all the way to Columbia. Captain Ben Rifkin, safety officer and owner of a kickass boat, was not prepared to endanger the lives of all aboard the good ship Tranquillo.
Nina began to get annoyed, especially when he wouldn´t feed her fish or steak just canned beef stew and smash, and she had paid nigh on $400 for the privilage. The troops bgan to mutiny, all hell broke loose, the girls started to b**** continuously and were tired of the skippers jokes about bums..
Nina and Ian jumped ship after a rebellious night of rum swilling and continuous playing of 20 questions., aided by CJ Le Beau, l´oreal model from San Diego. They flew from an island airstrip back to Panama city and on to South America.
