Funchal, Madeira and FINALLY some sun and heat!!
Funchal is a very pretty place which we saw by a bus tour, which took us up to the worlds highest sea cliffs. We wandered around enjoying the sun and watching the world go by.
After I was very hot and freckled we went back to the boat where we tried out the rock wall for the 1st time. Ian, of course, got to the top with no difficulty but I made the fatal error of looking down, and its reeeaally high!!! I didn't make it :(
Ian: I've been keeping myself happily amused with the rock wall, gym and pools and it was quite a nice (though strange) experience to swim in a pool by myself at 10pm on the deck of a boat as it headed across the atlantic. Bit cold though!
The next evening was the cruise ships "70s street party" (Video of this and ian trying to surf to follow). The party was held in the "Royal Promenade" on the ship. Our cruise director Joff had donned a white flared suit and the Macho Macho Men came from the ceiling in a cloud of smoke and lights to dance in all their glory!! We danced our socks off until midnight to some great live music provided by the band 'Rock the boat', ba doom tsh! (yes, including the YMCA of course!) The climax of the evening was a big balloon drop, unfortunately the balloons did not so much drop as dribble.
Went to bed very tired but happy.
