Day 1
Off to the airport ready to start my new adventure. Part way there I get a phone call from my big sister telling me to check my backpack as she has a green sticky patch on her hall floor? Stop at fleet and check the backpack and oh joy the entire contents of my lynx shower gel has emptied itself over the bottom of the bag. Clean up the mess and the bag smells nice which is more than I will now I have nothing to wash in! The only thing is it was the new lynx shower gel where women start undoing their bikini's when you use it. Oh well looks like my backpack might get lucky!
Arrive at Heathrow terminal 1 at around 10:30 and it is pissing down.
Now can anyone tell me why the airlines encourage us to check in online the day before and choose our seats and print out our board cards? I mean I do all this as I presume the idea is to make check in quicker, well save your printer ink and paper 60 minutes in line waiting to get rid of my nice smelling sexy bag. And how hard can it be for people to work out that when the sign in front of them says B5 or what ever it means go to that check in. Come on people it's not rocket science.
At last through security and time for some retail therapy. Portable speakers for the iPod, 400 B&H and wow Ian now owns a watch (still going to be late though). So I open the box for the watch and the instruction Manual is as thick as the bloody Oxford English dictionary. Omg it's a watch not the controls for the space shuttle!!
Shopping finished and time for a nice cold beer, well it is past midday so that ok and the place to have it is a bar called would you believe it BRIDGE.
Well you will never believe my luck the flight has now been delayed, I get this strange feeling this happened last year !!!!!!
Started boarding the plane at about 13:45 now maybe I'm just becoming a grumpy old git but when you check in your given a seat number, how hard can it be to find your seat? Got to mine and there is a women sat in it because she didn't like hers, what's all that about!! The flight was terrible children shouting, crying and running up and the down the isle. This got me thinking airlines should put all passengers with rug rats at the rear of the plane so the rest of us can get some peace ( going to change the name of this blog to grumpy goes traveling).
Arrive at Amman at 21:30 Jordain time (19:30) our time and met by a guy called Dave (that's funny same name as the bloke who dropped me off at Heathrow). Half hour ride in the car to the Caravan hotel omg talk about budget!!
Checked in and shown to my room well I would like to say iv stayed in worse but at this moment in time in not sure. Early morning call booked for 07:00 ready for the group meeting at 8. I'm led to believe there are 2 other travellers with me lets see what tomorrow brings?
