Day 7
Discover Egypt
We wake about 6 and around 7 we are severed a breakfast of pancakes and fruit with of coarse tea. We set off again and before long are pulling up at our finishing point. It has been an amazing and relaxing couple of days apart from the dam dogs and we are all sad to say goodbye to our boat and our crew. Into a mini van and we are off to see the Edfu temple. Although not as grand as the other temples we have seen it is still hard to believe how much detail is carved into the Walls of these temples. On the out side of the temple is a smaller building which Tam does give us the name for but I don't remember that, what I do remember is it's nick name " the jiggy jiggy temple" I will let you work out what it was used for. We depart and have a 2 hour drive to Luxor. At last a real shower and air conditioning again and we have the afternoon to chill.
Jenny and Grant phone me and ask if I fancy a drink so we head out and stop in the English tea house for a beer. We finish our beer and the kids go back to the hotel and the 3 of is walk down to the Irish bar. There is something you notice when your traveling and that is where ever in the world you go there is alway an Irish bar and the tourists always end up in it. We have another beer and head back to the hotel to meet the rest of the group. We then all head out into Luxor and Tam has organised dinner at an African restaurant the other side of the Nile. We hop on a motor launch and and walk down the main street until we duck down a back alley. My stomach churns wandering where the hell we will end up. Up some stairs and though a door and then up another 3 flights of stairs. To my surprise we walk out onto a beautiful roof top restaurant. After dinner we head back to the hotel and turn in. It's another early start tomorrow.
