We've arrived!!! It's exactly how I expected - unexpectable. We're staying in a wee hotel in a tiny side ally off a busy market street. Mine and Caits room doesn't have any electricity however we have a whole in the wall so we get some fresh air. It is Sweltering!!! As us girls aren't allowed to show our shoulders or legs we have to wrap up a lot warmer than we would like. We also carry all our worldly possesions on our back which my body isn't quite upto yet:-( Luckily we're heading for the Himalayas tomorrow:-) so we hopefully wont melt before then.
We managed to get our taxi from the airport ok and we've even managed to book our train for tomorrow, even though we were informed that the station was closed, no trains were running and the only place to get tickets was with this guys friend. We also got missdirected. Luckily Cait managed to be quite firm and we told him we wanted to see the Station anyway even if it was a building site as he claimed. It wasn't, and we now have our tickets:-) It can be quite difficult to completely ignore someone who tells you you're not allowed to go somewhere as you never really no if they're an official or not. I'm sure it's a good experience though and wont be the last time. It's all part of the culture. We've had our first Indian meal in a vegetaraian restaurant which a very kind guy called Dr Kenneth bought for us. He has been incredibly helpful giving us advice on everything. I ate my meal which he ordered for me so I didn't know what it was and amazingly I liked it!!! Maybe I will be ok:-)
All in all my first impressions have been exciting and a wee bit nerve wracking but then again thats what I came for:-)
xXx
