I could start this with the traditional Greek greeting, but that would take a bit to figure out on the keyboard. We are now in Athens and tomorrow night will be heading off to Germany. It was a busy day today as we climbed a series of narrow stairs and rocky slopes up to the Acropolis. The funny thing is no one told us that if you enter up the north slope it is a lot of wide easy stairs.... oh well. It was very nice, I would have prefered though if the ruins weren't all obstructed by scaffolding from restoration work. I can still say I've been there though. In the afternoon we saw the changing of the guard in front of the Parliment building. My greek is coming along thanks to a greek man I met on the fairy from Italy. (I'll tell you all about Augustas when I get home). Today I finally drank a shot of the national greek drink, Ouzo. It is ridiculously strong! On the bright side I've learned how to say cheers in Greek. Tomorrow will be a fairly easy day as we see the Archaelogical museum and then head up to Berlin. The forecast in Berlin is looking amazing as instead of 100* it is supposed to be in the 60s. I suppose I will leave you with one last lesson learned. When I was little my dad used to say "You know if you were really hungry you would eat anything we gave you." This proved true today. Krista and I were starving tonight and we went to this little kebab place. The menu was completely in Greek, so after 10 minutes of unsuccesful communication with the owner I ate what I am assuming was lamb or pork. It was definately not a meat that I would willingly eat.
Talk to you all from Berlin!
Love,
Jennifer
