Well we didnt get to the rugby musuem, it was a shed attached to a rugby ground and they were closed for lunch but we went to the local shopping center to people watch and do the upload what you read yesterday. I spoke to a local called Chad who was telling me his mate was restoring a spitfire he had imported from Burma thus proving that kiwi's like fixing things that other people would otherwise chuck out and that they had too much time on their hands for hobbies. We set off to the kapatai coast which is near enough to commute from wellington and it was gorgeous. Before we got there we saw a truck that cam down the road and before our very unexpected eyes converted to run on rail. We thought we need to do that to our pink van at home so we can avoid the traffic around warrington.
We stayed at night at Paekakariki right on the beach and awoke to a lovely sunny day. 2 hrs later it was winter. The drive into Welly from windy as expected. Before we knew it we were at Angela's cousins Ralf and Lena's motel in an area known as Newlands. We enjoyed a few beer had fish and chips and with some success introduced the kids to mussles although off putting was that most of the mussels had swallowed baby crabs before being picked which made them more chewy than normal.
The children camped infront of the tv rediscovered after 3 weeks
Tomorrow we are off to explore Welly, the kids would rather stay infront of the telly but tough!
If we have time we will write about daily life in the van
