And so our adventure into the 130 million year old rainforest, the oldest in the world, started with a jungle train which took us through the beautiful Malaysian scenery before depositing us at the gateway to Taman Negra and our boat trip into the thick jungle. And so we embarked on our journey to the Perhentian islands or more affectionately termed 'heaven on earth' and what was supposed to be a short overnight bus journey turned into a mini adventure. After missing the last bus to our chosen destination we opted for another bus that would drop us North of the port on which we met some Malay's who spontaneously invited us to their wedding the following morning (hmm, on an overnight bus the night before your wedding!). ...

And yes we are here in country number 5; Malaysia. And our first port of call was the touristy island of Langkawi famous for its spectacular 97 surrounding islands and beautiful jungle-beach settings. Famous too for its ridiculously cheap booze (A litre of Smirnoff is only 3 quid!, even more ridiculous is the fact that the 80% of its inhabitants are Muslim and so can't indulge in this most wonderful of pastimes!).
