Day 5 - 15 December 2019
Today was slow and easy. We had no itinerary planned out.
Morning breakfast was a simple affair of bread with Nutella. We took our time to eat our breakfast as we were totally in an unhurried mode.
We took a tram and arrived at the Cube Houses. It was designed by a Dutch architect by the name of Piet Blom. The geometry of its design was impressive; yet, it wasn’t just only aesthetically beautiful, it was practical and functional for daily use. After visiting the museum house, the kids played English chess on the ground. My brother in law and I sipped our latte at one of the nearby cafe.
We left the Cube Houses about noon and headed to the Market Hall. This building is well-designed with architectural brilliance. It is a mixed development (residential and office) with a huge market hall where a large variety of food and other stuff are sold. I had ramen for lunch and topped it off with affogato for dessert.
After lunch, we headed to the Maritime Museum. However, we were not quite interested in shipping stuff and hence, did not enter the museum. Instead, we walked around the area.
There was a ice skating rink nearby and J, H and my two boys were all for the idea of ice skating. Their wish was granted and they had a helluva great time. The rest of us just chilled at a nearby cafe next to the ice skating rink.
After the kids were done with the ice skating, we did a little shopping. We bought a new haversack as the current one was kinda breaking apart. After that, we had early dinner at The Fish Market. The food was fantastic. However, I was so tired that it felt almost obligatory to eat. In the end, I couldn’t finish my fish and chips but good enough to fill my stomach.
We went back to the hotel. I felt a little cold and unwell. Took some vitamins, drank a cup of hot tea and after writing this post, I went to bed.
