Day 11 - Provence - 02.06.2013
We woke up at 630am. We got ourselves and Benji ready and had our breakfast at the hotel. We departed from our hotel at 9am plus and set off for our first destination of the day - L'sle-sur-la-Sorgue.
L'sle-sur-la-Sorgue is a busy, open market with many stalls that sell an array of assorted food items, accessories, and many others that I can't imgaine listing them all here. Basically, it was a wonderful experience of blending in with the French of the way they do marketing on a Sunday morning. We came across an art gallery shop where we saw a very beautiful oil painting of Provence and we almost bought it on impulse. We didn't eventually. There was a Sorgue river nearby that was tranquil in nature. We found part of it (apparently the river was quite long) but we didn't spend much time on it as we thought of moving on to conquer other villages.
We proceeded to Fontaine-de-Vaucluse which was a few minutes drive away from L'sle-sur-la-Sorgue. It was so bustling that it was stressful to even find parking. We then decided to adjourn to Le Thor.
Oh man... Every shops (literally) were closed upon arrival. Well, we proceeded to Cavaillon. To our disappointment, it was the same situation; every shops were closed.
Finally, we made our way to Avignon. On our way, we stopped by this eating outlet, Flunch, for lunch. By then, we were exhausted. I guess Emma was more tired because she was driving the whole time. It was a timely checkpoint for us to fill our empty stomachs and take a good break from being on the roads.
At about 3pm plus, we arrived at our hotel - Caza Sereyna. After we checked in, I napped for at least two hours. Emma napped too after she had settled Benji to sleep.
At about 6pm plus, we drove out and decided to just have MacDonald for dinner. Anyway, we were both really tired to even attempt to look for any nice restaurants for dinner. MacDonald was the perfect choice.
When we were back in the hotel, we met fellow Singaporeans. It was pleasant to hear the same accents and all of a sudden, though we may not know one another, we were able to chat up for quite some time, sharing our respective trips and so on.
Back in the room, we were trying to make Benji sleep. On one hand, we wanted him to sleep. On the other hand, it was such a joy to see him enjoying himself. He was talking to himself and making funny noises (for the first time) for close to about an hour. At this point, Benji is still quite wide awake. Well, hoping that he will sleep soon.
Good night!
