Day 7 - 17 Dec 2019
Today, I felt better. At least, I didn’t feel as weak as yesterday. Today, we made a day trip to Bruges, a pretty city of Belgium.
The train tickets cost around Euro 28 per adult. The kids got to ride free. Very expensive I felt.
Bruges is beautiful. The cobblestoned streets, the medieval buildings and lovely canals at almost every turn were simply charming. At almost every canals, tourists and even locals could be seen taking pictures to immortalise their memories. For us, we took many group photos because almost every corner of this city was stunning.
We had lunch at Cafe Craenenburg. I had pasta. It was good, though it was a little bit spicy.
Chocolate shops are everywhere. Godiva is a must try. I had a cup of hot chocolate and that really helped to nurse the cold.
We took a train to Brussels Central to spend the evening. Grand Place Brussels was beautiful. At about 5pm, the light show (and music) lit up the otherwise gothic-looking architectures and the entire square almost came to life for a span of 10 minutes. After the light show was over, we had dinner at Hard Rock Cafe. The food was good but because of my ill condition, I couldn’t quite enjoy the food as much.
We took a metro back to the nearest station where our hotel (IBIS) was located. Overall, today has been a wonderful day with good weather, of just roaming the streets and appreciating the appeal of Bruges’ quaintness. What a lovely day. Thank you God.
