And so it ends...
We're checked out of our lovely hotel and bags are stored until we get picked up by our airport transfer in a few hours. We are very excited to come home but it will be sad to leave the blue 30 degree sky that's here today.
Yesterday was another day of chilling. We shopped a little, walked a little and hung around the pool a little, catching some last minute rays. It was a tough decision between some really good restaurants for our 'last meal' but we chose a good one and shared a bottle of red, whilst calculating that we (apart from the tours where we had to help) have only cooked for ourselves 3 times in 7 weeks. Hmmm. No wonder I'm coming home about half a stone heavier. Could do with a good curry though as that's one thing they don't have out here. Perhaps that's our 'home return' meal sorted! We then popped over to the harbour to the Little Creatures micro-brewery for a night cap before getting back to the hotel and having an early-ish night ready for the big flight today.
This trip has been awesome and inspiring. To be able to see this country and the extremes it has has been truly amazing. We both feel refreshed and tired!
My fave bits must include the 12 apostles, Uluru, Monkey Mia (dolphins), the Ningaloo Reef, seeing the Harbour Bridge and Opera House in Sydney, the food, and abseiling amongst many others.
Sadly, the bad bits have included some accommodation, the floods and of course the leeches. But nothing has been awful for us and when you see the horrors of the fires down in Victoria then you realise how absolutely lucky and privileged we are and have been.
So, I come home a fully fledged wife with husband in tow, ready to get back on UK soil and begin our married life at home with lots of 'to do's' inspired by the trip and a better outlook on life generally. We won't bore you with the 1000's of photos and video clips we have taken, but in time may share the best of them when they're sorted out. We'd love to see you soon, so give us a ring from SUnday on and we can share our jet lag recovery time with you!
See you all real soon.
Louise and Chris
