Thursday 4th September - day 15
Xi'an
After checking in (Han tang hostel -50rmb) we decide just to look round the city today. We head down to the main square and take some pictures of the bell tower and venture through the Muslim quarter. We pay Into the Mosque, but it's not really worth the 35rmb, there's scaffolding covering the main pavilion and the rest is poorly maintained temples and courtyards after buying some crap and tat, we a lamb muffin/bun thing, which is 15rmb but so nice.
When we get back to the hostel there's a free activity on Chinese writing, so we give that ago. We learn how to spellwrite our names and a few helpful symbols. Mines something to do with beautiful so I'm obviously made up, but I think the hostel worker was just making it up so I leave her a good review. We eat out from across the street, just some basic streetfood. It comes on a school style dinner tray which means we get to try a few different dishes. It's only after we've eaten we see the serving woman picking her nose with the blackest nails I've ever laid eyes upon. Fabulous.
