Walker's Travels in Scandinavia 2017 and others
Temp: Walk: After a leisurely breakfast, we drove out to Tidal River deep into Wilsons Promontory to undertake some walks stat start from there. Day entry to the park is free, so off we went. We chose to do a walk from the tourist info centre to Pillar Point which was listed as a 4km return walk. We made it tot he point and the views were pretty speccy. We didn't stay long and headed back. We took the exit to Squeaky Beach. You had to take your shoes off to experience the squeaky sound the sand allegedly makes, and as we had sand shoes on, we opted to not experience the "squeak". Back up the hill, and whilst Greg thought we should do the rest of the loop, which took in two other sites, we eventually opted to head directly back to the info centre as it was long past mornos. We thought G&Y would have been there already, however, we were first back with 7.5km completed. As we were having out mornos, G&Y arrived. They had their lunch with coffee and then had an ice cream with us. Gunther announced tat he would like to put his kayak in at the river crossing as he thought it would be nice and calm and he would not do any further damage to his back. Greg originally agreed, but when we got on the road, the parking spot to climb Mt Bishop was before the creek, so we made a detour. Wendy's feet were a bit blistered from wearing proper shoes, so decided to give the climb a miss and Greg went on his own. He said that he would run up and down in order to save time so Wendy did not have to wait so long, so off he went. About 50 minutes later, Wendy decided to give her feet another shot, after bad aiding one little toe. She made it about 1.25km up and met Greg coming down already! It was listed as a 3.7km one way trip and Greg had indeed run/walked the climb - silly sausage! Whilst Greg ran on down the hill, Wendy followed at a more sedate pace. Upon arrival at the car park, Wendy was greeted by Greg, who's forest words were, "don't go crook"!! He had taken a tumble and badly injured his right hand and hand a number of minor grazes down his right hand side. To say Wendy was not impressed was to state the bleeding obvious. However, she assisted in dressing his wounds enough to get him back to the van park where he could wash them properly and then Wendy would dress them properly. Wounds suitably dressed, it was time for a read and snoooze. Dinner preparation followed, then more reading, pre-dinner drinks with the Fischers, then dinner. As the weather forecast has predicted particularly nasty weather for tomorrow, right on departure time, Greg decided to pack up outside, including taking the awning in. The wind was especially nasty and very cold. We had dinner inside the van as the wind was so bad. Teeth, shower and bed.
