I wouldn't have missed this trip for quids, it was great. I consider myself reasonably fit, for a 65 year old, nevertheless I found it tough in places. The combination of the rough roads, the distances involved and the heat/humidity really made for a hard ride some days. I would certainly recommend to anyone doing this ride; take your own saddle as the constant pounding can play havoc with the bottom.
I can't say enough good things about the drivers in Myanmar, they were fantastic. They were courteous, patient, very careful and always respectful. (Nothing like the impatient so and sos in Oz). Not once did any of us feel threatened or intimidated by them. The Myanmar people were also lovely; we never had merchandise shoved in our faces or pushed to buy something anywhere.
The guides from Cambodian Adventure Tours were, as usual, superb catering to our every need
and always pleasant.
The other five riders were great too. I had cycled with four of them before so knew that we'd get on, but the fifth guy Trio, UK, was a great bloke. He was a fit b***** and sure gave Boeun and Kev, also very fit, a run for their money.
Although hot and humid (which I like) the weather couldn't have been better. We didn't receive one drop of rain while riding and the clouds often came out to make it cooler for us.
