Walker's Travels in Scandinavia 2017 and others
Rain, 16-22deg, total for the tour 1902km. The pitter patter of rather heavy rain on the windows this morning convinced us we had to go to Plan B for our trip to the airport. So after brekky we walked across the square to the Railway Station, purchased our tickets and checked the timings. A train every four minutes; we think that'll work for us. We were looking forward to a leisurely 19km ride to commence our long journey home, however not in pouring rain. Packed up and boarded the 9:30am train. We were glad to be indoors as the sky opened up with torrential rain. Arrived at the airport station and used a quiet corner to clean our bikes. Aussie quarantine don't like dirty bikes, in fact they don't like dirty anything, so we were very thorough. It was then onto the Baggage Store where for AS$67 they handed over two flat-packed bike boxes. About an hour or so later we converted them into real boxes containing two partly disassembled bikes. "Please be gentle with us Mr Emirates/Qantas baggage handlers" we heard the bikes whisper. Check-in was painless and pretty soon we were sitting on the plane, a brand new Emirates double decker A380, headed for Dubai. Great aircraft and great flight, the whole seven hours of it. Landed at midnight, local time but wide awake still so our inner-clocks are already out of whack. On the ground in Dubai it was straight to the Emirates Club for a cool drink of mineral water and a wait of 10 hours!!
