Walker's Travels in Scandinavia 2017 and others
Cloudy but fine, 15-22deg 50km, at a very leisurely average of 15km/h (total 350km). 7:30am breakfast then away about 8:45am. A wonderful varied ride today, mainly away from the lake through forests, vineyards, orchids (apple, pear, cherry) and farmland. Quite a large wine area in this region although we didn't see any cellar doors to taste the local brew. Spent an interesting hour or so at the Zeppelin Museum at Friedrichshafen. What an amazingly luxurious way to travel, even by today's standards. What a shame they didn't continue to develop the concept further. We had our standard lunch, bread roll and a piece of fruit, on the esplanade here too. Another 20km on and then at 1:25pm we caught a ferry ($14.50 each) across the lake to Constance where we'll stay for two nights. Rode to our hotel, a brand new one a little out of the city. After a LLD we walked the 4.2km into the Old City and had a lovely Italian meal, seafood salad for G / pizza for W, and a big German beer. Nice way to finish a great day.
