After the monster slow boat journey from Chiang Mai we decided to take it slow on our first night in Luang Prabang so we all went out for a traditional Lao meal although i was not feeling too well so i didn't eat, but wish i did because it looked and smelt sooo nice!
Luang Prabang is a small lazy city with not much to do, people visit this city because of the French architecture apparently as well as its caves and waterfalls. To be honest because our gang of 3 had turned into 6 and because we had met so many new friends all we wanted to do is go out at night, drink and socialise but it didn't seem that kind of a city.
We originally planned to stay there around 4 nights because i had heard by so many people that it was amazing, but to me it was a bit of a bore. The second day we decided to do something constructive and went to check out the waterfall. Unfortunately our tuk tuk driver took us to the wrong waterfall, but that did not matter, because the one he took us to was amazing. It had an amazing Aqua blue water and looked so refreshing, so we all decided to go for a dip and ended up having a really good day.
That night we researched our Lonely Planet book and found out that the previous night we went to the wrong strip at night and so we investigated this new street of bars and found it to be quite a laugh. If only we knew that the previous night! Both Nims and I said if we had discovered the Hive bar earlier we probably would have stayed a couple more nights, but we made the decision to leave to our next stop, Viang Vieng. I had also heard so many good stories about this place, so the next day we caught a 6 hour bus journey to this small town, which ended up taking 8 hours because mid way the tire burst on our coach. Nice!
We eventually got to Viang Vieng and it was like 3 streets, full of travellers, bars, internet cafes and restuarants, i knew we would like it here!
