Yesterday we set out to visit the Swayambhunath Temple, it was an intetesting walk passing through the back streets. The roads around here are all rough and strewn with litter. Crossing a bridge I was amazed to see hogs in there snaffling through the debris and people living on the river bank in extreme poverty. Today I visited a tailor who works in a tiny room approx 6ft x 6ft to see if he would shorten my trousers, He did an excellent job and all for 40p. This afternoon we visited The Garden of Dreams, it is a very tranquil place compared to the rest of Kathmandu which is just full on. How we have survived walking the many narrow streets with out getting run over is a miracle, there is no keep left or right it is a free for all for taxis, rickshaws, motorcycles, cycl...

Arrived last night at 21.30 nepal time and was welcomed at guest house with a cup of nepali tea. The drive from the airport was eerie as there are no street lights, every where was in darkness except for the odd hotel light, oil lamps and open fires on side of road for people selling their wares. Left home at 11.30 yesterday, and after two buses and one flight have arrived at Doha waiting for transfer to Kathmandu. Going through security at Heathrow Ray had to wait while they tested his toothpowder for illegal substances.
