Went to breakfast, l ordered toast and jam, Ray ordered omelette and toast only for the waiter to return to say that they only had enough bread for my toast but not any fo Ray, he was not a happy bunny lol. We could of had 16 nights at our other accomadation for the price we paid for two here! The service has been appalling.
Our jeep arrives early, much to Rays delight, he is surprised that the driver is on his own as he had expected other people to be jumping in on our fare. We head off down in to the town when the driver stops and says he has to pick up his small son, suddenly a young woman gets in and says do we mind if she comes some of the way as she is late for an important medical appointment .
We head off on our 3 hour journey, fortunately we only have a few valleys to get over before the terrain levels out. I really dislike how close to the edge you have to be. We pass through many hillside villages, people still farm and live the same as hundreds of years ago. The women wear traditional dress. The houses are very small with either a thatched or corrugated sheet held down with stones roof, no glass in windows, sometimes a door or curtain. Most of the children go to school, they all look so smart in their uniforms, how their mothers get the shirts and blouses so white with no mod cons is beyond me!
We eventually reach the lowlands, the landscape changes and we now see flat fields as opposed to terraces. We finally reach our destination.
We arrive at our hotel, this time there are many staff, who are willing to help. It is quite new and for once we have proper soft mattresses, cant wait for a good nights sleep.
The hotel is right opposite the main entrance to Lumbini Sacred Garden, this is where Lord Buddha was born. The site has many temples and monasteries built by different nations. We go to the gate to find out more about the site, we are accosted by rickshaw drivers touting for business. We take up the offer from one, its about £3 for him to drive us around for 2 1/2 hours. We are totally amazed at the size of the site and the stunning temples and monasteries, we stop and look at some but will come back tomorrow and take more time. The rickshaw driver is so tiny, l feel really embarrassed that he is peddling us around.
The shower in the room is awsome. Ray seems pleased with this hotel and they actually have the food we order.
As l writing this Ray is snoring his head off lol.
