When in Peru, do as the Peruvians do!
Lock the taxi doors.
Sandboard down giant dunes.
Drink Pisco Sours until you can´t drink anymore.
Gaze in wonder at the Islas Ballestas.
Keep your eyes peeled and your wits about you.
Take the stomach churning flight over the mysteries of the Nazca Lines.
Endure a 15 hours bus through the mountains, rollercoaster style.
So, in the week and a half we have been in Peru we have been up to alot.
We crossed the border from Ecuador without a hitch and got to Piurra which the moment you arrive you want to leave, a little town on the edge of the desert, not a good place. But we had one hot and awful night there before our flight, the only highlight was... we went to see Iron Man 2 for the small fee of $2 each! Great!
The flight was fine and we were met at the airport by the lady from Hostal España in Central Lima, she immediatly locked the door and covered her radio, this is when we realise things are a little different in Peru!
We arrived at the weird and wonderful Hostal España where the walls are covered from top to bottom in art work and there are statues everywhere and parrots!!!
I don´t really know what to say about Lima, we spent time wandering the streets in the sweltering heat admiring the beauty of the central square and then met up with friends in the cosmopolitan Miraflores which is beautiful in a completely different way.
Heleen (our friend from the Quilotoa Loop - they were lost too) introduced me to flan, the best flan ever apparently but I wasn´t a flan fan (too easy)! And after three nights we were ready to leave for Pisco after spending far too much money on Pisco Sours and making fouls of ourselves in a Peruvian club (haha) we are not good at salsa!
We headed to Pisco with two other friends we made on the Quilotoa Loop (Emma was out translator after I was bitten) Emma and Jono from Bristol.
Running out of time so this has to be continued later..... I´m going for breakfast! :)
