The Dashing Diner
Hue-
On my way here-passed beautiful landscapes and village scenes. The houses here are skinny minny- due to high cost of land frontage- so people buy skinny plots and then proceed to build lonways into the back garden.Doors are left wide open back & front-v Feng Shui- and you get ot gander inside.all same same but different-spartan,table, couple of chairs, side cabinet, some dust collectors in the form of gaudy buddhas/vases/tutt,a TV which remains on 24/7-and the kig of ornamentia - the motorbike.Yes a motorbike -1-2 whatever the family owns.It takes pride of place in the living room nightly.I no lie.
Only hope Louis, Mike,Ben and Pat get any bright ideas !!!!Cannot see the Mulla,Sara,Annie or Hels going for that one hey gals?
Hue is historic and has been the heartbeat of Vietnam.-in the political, cultural ,religious worship and educational sense. It has splendid tombs dating from the Nguyan emporer-Pagodas and the remaining Citadel which have now become World Heritage sites has been the saviour of Hue.
Between 1975 and 1990 all the buildings were regarded as POLITICALLY INCORRECT ( that is a new one on me)sign of the feudal Nguyen dynasty and hence left to decay.Only after 1990 did the Government start thinking with their heads rather than their flip fops-realising its value for the towns tourist industry. This surely saved Hue.Although not as asthaetic as Hoi An (AGH HOI AN-loved it)Hue has a lovely feeling-friendly,safe and people seem most helpful.Another $25 a night hotel- new immaculate and cannot fault service, cleanliness of location.
Off to explore so will catchup tomorrow.
