Last day in Jordan. Taken to a training race track for camels. Camels here are it ridden by small boys from some underprivileged country. Ridden by machines. Much more easily trained, more acceptable to community(not sure how this ranks) then back via Karak castle. A castle from 500BC. At least but more infamous from crusader times. Then back to pack for home. Fitting 4months into 1 bag a challenge. But it's done.

Off in a camel for 3 hours this am. Sure beats walking in sand. Home for a lovely Arabic lunch. Flat bread, dukka, two salads, cucumber. Then off for a drive again. Got a flat after about 2kms. No jack no spare no pump. But mobile to call mates. Then continue to see some rock paintings, looked like camels on a trade route. Stopped at a Bedouin tent for tea of course. The car is getting sicker. Nearly no gears. Shop for dinner on the way home at the local vil...

Last day in Wadi Musa, Petra. Had a great day visiting little Petra a site about 5k away. Smaller, less visited. The Shobac castle from 11th century. Then a wander round a part of Dana Reserve.

Goodbye to Petra. Down to Wadi Rum. Staying in an area called Diseh. The camp I am in has no other visitors. It is probably set up for at least 50. I have one Arab man to look after me. He speaks a little English. So here I am in the desert by myself. After lunch we went for a few hours drive in the desert. It isn't as red as at home but the mountains are beautiful. Guided by a local to the back way to the Monastery. About a 3k walk from the road up the side of the mountains. Saw a Bronze Age settlement at the top of one mountain (5/7000BC) walked narrow paths on the edge and arrived at the spectacular Monastery. Spent some time sitting watching it drinking my new favorite -fresh lemon and mint. Then off to see the rest of Petra. Roman ruins. Bazintine church. Many more sites carved from the mountains.
