Leg 5 - race 7 - day 9
Slept reasonably well. Woke up at 10am
Found out that a Yankee sheet had torn during the night so had to be replaced. Also we had gone through the scoring gate and come 3rd.
Had lunch of noodles and went on watch at 11am
Cloudy and cooler up on deck but still had shorts and t shirt on as still warm. Stayed on same tack through whole watch with Yankee 1 and staysail up along with full main. Averaged around 8- 9 knots.
We are currently in third place overall. Still long way to go but so want to get a podium place and first is always best! Fingers crossed.
Carl's beard is growing be interesting to see what it's like when we get to Vietnam. Three weeks away !!!!
Can't believe we are going to be at sea for that long. But it's nice we are stopping off in Vietnam before heading into China.
Came off watch onto standby to cook. Was meant to be chicken and couscous so spiced it up to make a chicken curry with couscous sneaked in !
Weather got breezier and ended up in a storm. When I covered my shift from 11-3 it poured with rain. Had my foulies on but still got soaking wet. The first time I have felt cold, I had to put an extra layer on. It's such an effort getting dressed and moving around the boat as consistently heeled over. Had so many bruises when I keep bashing into things. Feel beaten up! Even getting in and out of my bunk is hard. Have to pull myself up using all the grab rails, and as for going to the loo! Well ! Have to lean against the wall to keep myself upright to get dressed.
At 1.30am we went through the equator we are holding a ceremony for this tomorrow.
Got into bed at 3am felt so tired. Fell asleep straight away.
Miles covered 186 speed 3.6-11.3
