Leg 5 : race 8 : day 12
Woken at 5.30 by vitality had slept solid, he had to help me out my bunk ! ( in a top one)
Had porridge for breakfast, the boat was still rolling but not as much the wind had died down a little. Mind you down to about 40 knots which I thought was high but after the height of the storm last night it seemed mild!
Up on deck at 6am it was freezing I had 5 layers on ! The sea was still rough and from the minute on deck I couldn't wait till the end! Thank goodness we are nearly at the race end. I am defiantly a fair weather sailor!
Finish shift at 10am had pasta then straight into bunk to warm up and sleep. Felt really tearful although Carl is here I just want to snuggle up an lay down with him. Looking forward to some time on our own.
In my bunk and slept really well had 2 sleeping bags on me plus my thermal base layer.
Woken at 5.30 pm didn't want to get up felt so cozy . Had dinner rice and beef stew. Up on deck for 6pm as it was so cold took it in turns with sophie to do half hour on deck half hour below. Made the shift go faster. Stand by shift went quickly too but it was so cold. Kept my layers and hat on down below.
Went to bed at 2am snuggled in with Carl for the first hour then we tacked and I fell out ! So I got into another bunk. It was nice having a cuddle I miss being on our own together. Not long now and we will be. Hopefully we will arrive in Qingdao on Friday can't come soon enough. Nice Hot shower and a flat bed that I can't fall out of
