After a short flight we landed in Lima, our final destination on this part of the trip. We hadn't heard great things from others about the place so weren't expecting too much.
We choose a hostel in the Miraflores area, which we found to be really nice. We went for long walks around the area enjoying the nice weather and watched the hand gliders and surfers from the cliff front. We also enjoyed good food in Lima as well as visiting the local cinema and a modern shopping mall built into a cliff face. Whilst watching the hand gliding an old man decided to start jabbing at Helen's flip flop with his walking stick. We were unsure if he was flirting or just plain strange but then he moved on to having a walking stick fight with another old man. Riddle solved...
As I had broken my razor I decided that this was the perfect opportunity to get my first cut throat shave at a barbers. This was certainly an experience I will never forget. 45 minutes of face pulling, towel slapping and suffocation but I did end up with baby smooth skin.
We went for a meal with Claud, Dean (who we met on the Inca Trail), Caitlin and Jack on one of the nights which ended up with drinks at the hostel. We played table football which descended into a spinning competition with the ball regularly flying off the table. Helen scored many memorable goals although a lot were in her own goal!! Afterwards we had a bit of live music to entertain us including a man with a bongo (empty box) and a female dancer. Jack got into the swing of this very quickly and impressed us all with his moves.
We now move on from south America to Mexico and the States. We have really enjoyed our time here and it has gone far too quickly. We have me many great people, seen some really great sights and eaten really good food (a lot). I think we both agree that our personal highlights have been the Inca Trail and Cusco.
