G'day all!
Well we're currently in Western Australia. Spent a few nights with one of Helen's old school friends who emigrated out here 16 years ago to a small town called Armadale which is just south of Perth. Visited a koala park and saw loads of koalas, roos, quokkas, emus, dingos and other Aussie animals which was great, we also saw a few wild roos on the road and our first red back spider (which we left alone!!). We then got the train into Perth to our hostel where we are staying for 5 nights. Been into the city - another lovely Australian city that's very clean and friendly, and seen loads of cool stuff. We have also been to an amazing beach in Cottesloe, which is a 30 min train journey from Perth; it was gorge - golden sandy beaches with amazing clear blue water, great surf and even had the 'Summer Bay' style flags!! We also have spent a day on Rottnest Island which is an A class reserve and hour off the Perth coast - another beautiful place that was very mediteranean, it's also home to the Quokkas which are large rodent things that are really playful and tame - very cute! Spent a day in Fremantle today, which is about 30 mins from Perth, more of a port town than anything but still really pretty. We're off for a 3 day car trip down the coast to the south to see Margarets River and Walpole which are both supposed to be beautiful. Then we're back to Perth for a night before we fly back to Sydney - when we get there I'll have a bit more time to upload some photos and put a bit more detail on here, it's all a bit hectic at the mo (but very very relaxed too!!). Off to New Zealand on the 3rd November.
Our love to everyone back home, miss you all lots
A&H xx
