Today I ate something I didn't think I ever would...crocodile! We found the "pub street" in Siem Reap, and walked along to see a bar that was offering crocodile burgers, fries and a free glass of wine. When in Rome... It was actually quite nice,I just feel a bit bad for the crocodile. It was only last night I was telling Luke how I thought it was cruel that they showed one being killed on tv! :-S I don't think it's something i'd eat again though, out of principle...but it has to be said they were really really nice! We''re trying to upload pictures of the last few days, but this internet connection, while it's free, is not letting us do anything! It gets so far and then goes to a unrecognised page! DOH. We've also got no network coverage at all over here on our mobiles,so if anyone has tried to text and haven't had a reply...that's why. I'm also on the lookout for a new sim card because orange is eating my credit when I do have it, it goes very quickly. If I keep topping up i'll be skint,so t'internet will have to work for now. We're going to head back out in a bit to pub street, and have a few drinks...it's incredibly cheap over here, your average pint is about 75 cents, in US money...which is even less in UK money. We're taking about 50p for a pint,on average! :-D We leave here tomorrow to go to Phnom Penh, where we'll go look at the killing fields and have a look at the city itself. When we were out earlier,I couldn't help but feel really sorry for the kids over here, they were begging and coming up to us trying to sell books or paintings. One kid was on crutches and had one leg, it's very very sad. I was only at that moment reading a leaflet on how giving the kids on the streets begging and selling things money was the worst thng you could do, as it stops them being in education and keeps them on the streets. It's illegal in Cambodia for anyone to be forced into labour, and for anyone under 15 to be selling on the streets. It was heartbreaking having to tell him "no thankyou" and see him leave.I hope he gets off the streets, along with the others and ends up going to school. So sad. Unil next time...xxx
