Arrived safely in Sydney and were fast tracked through Passport Control and customs, courtesy of a VIP pass provided by Al. Three days on the road following the coast and photographing every beach and cove along the way - Google have asked if they can use our photographs to replace their current "Google world". We drove about 250 Kilometres a day and made three overnight stops along the way at Jervis Bay (with the whitest sand beach in the world according to the Guinness Book of Records), Eden and Lakes Entrance - Each one prettier than the last. At Eden we stayed in the same accommodation, it was run by a vaguely spooky guy who kept mentioning a mysterious wife who we never saw. When we arrived he escorted us to our rooms, first the "Pink Room " stylishly feminine, with an en-suite accessed through a doorway disguised as a wardrobe, which he had assigned to A&R - Very nice. The second room (our room) was the "Brick Room" which had the feature of being able to walk all the way round the bed, provided your luggage was stored under it. We arrived back after dinner with a supply of wine at about 9:00pm long after most locals had gone to bed - Our host had explained previously that we were not in Paris, London or even Sydney and hardworking folk went to bed at a reasonable time. Despite his warning with a rebellious streak we sat and drank wine until well past 10 o'clock, apparently waking our host who came downstairs, noisily washed up and prowled in our peripheral vision until, finally beaten, we went to bed. During the rest of our trip we continued to see exceptional scenery, ate invariably good food and got glimpses of the Australian wildlife - Wallabies, Possums, Pelicans etc. The Fish & Chips shoreside at Batemans Bay was a simple but especially good meal.
Before reaching Melbourne we stopped at Phillip Island where we spent some time in the company of Koala's and had a pleasant afternoon at a winery.
Finally, we reached Melbourne which seemed a good city to spend a few days but unfortunately we had scheduled only one. We did however make the most of it visiting the top floor of the Eureka Tower, which involved the "Edge experience" a glass cage (including a glass floor) which exited the top of the building and sat suspended over the city. After this bit of excitement and watching the sunset over the city, we found a nice restaurant on the riverside and ate and drank the remainder of the evening away (A&R insisted on paying) - It doesn't get any better than this.
