After two weeks of high energy activity it was time to relax so we headed for Mancora, a beach resort on the North West Pacific coast of Peru and just short of the Ecuadorian border. It was another 20 hour bus ride and we arrived in Mancora at about 11:00 am to be met by hordes of hawkers selling food, accommodation, tours and taxis …… We battled through the crowds, escaping into the bus office where the receptionist ordered us a "taxi"…. A euphemism for a motor bike with a modified wheel barrow attached. Ten minutes bumpy ride later we got to our hotel, Claro de Luna, which was out of town on a lovely beach with a little plunge pool, hammock on our patio and looked perfect for some chill time - time for another holiday.
The town itself was situated on "the best beach in the area" but was not very inspiring consisting mainly of "lean-to" type constructions housing small restaurants, bars and hostels …. Very busy and popular with surfers and backpackers alike, permanent sun making it a year round destination. We only ventured into town occasionally for a meal or drink, spending most of our time walking the beach, reading, updating travel plans, watching sunsets, dodging falling coconuts and generally just lazily chilling …. Four days passed quickly and it was soon time to repack the rucksacks and resume our travelling.
