Finally we reached our very last Argentinian town El Calafate; one of the most southern towns in Argentina/Patagonia. It reminds me of a ski resort town and is full to the brim of tourists, shops and restaurants. Rio Gallegos was not a town that we planned on visiting for any length of time however due to the bus from Puerto Madryn it left us with very little choice. Originally the 19 hour bus journey would have gotten us to Rio Gallegos by 1pm the following day so we could get a connecting bus straight to El Calafate at 2pm. We have just finished a lovely three days of relaxing in the small Argentinian beach resort of Villa Gesell; 5 hours south of Buenos Aires. We stopped in a small campsite just outside the town with easy access to the beach and the resort via a local bus.
