Guten Tag (Hello) From Germany!
Well we are back safely from Munich, Germany, where we went to go to Oktoberfest. A place where 6 million visitors go to every year, which makes it easy to understand why its so easy to lose one another during the day. 6.6Million Litres of Beer, and over 100,000 litres of wine are consumed during Oktoberfest - which also makes it easy to see how we all had memory loss at some stage during the weekend!! 520,000 Chickens are eaten - and Oktoberfest smelt like sausages (they are every where) the whole time!!
We flew over on Thursday last week, with Ross and Garney. Ross was extremely excited about leaving England for good, and got nervous that we would never leave when our flight got delayed. Anyway we finally made it to the camping ground where we were staying at about 12.30am, and were just in time for one beer with everyone before the bar shut. It rained this night and everything in the tent got soaked - so was fun times the next day.
The following day we got up and went into town for a look around before going to watch the Hundy Club. This is where the most ferral Kiwis and Aussies, complete 100 shots in 100 minutes, following a lot of rules, having eggs and flour chucked at them and eating gross things like cat food and skulling olive oil. Was disgusting as and almost made ya be sick just watching it. This afternoon we hung out with all of the vanies on tour, and then went back to our camp bar that night.
Saturday we were all up bright and early to get to the beer festival. We were in line by 8am, and the doors opened at 9am, and theres no other way to describe it than as 'mad stampede' - if you fell over there would of been no way you were getting back up again. If you took your feet off the ground you would have been carried along!! And was impossible to stick together - however we did manage to get a table - and had to sit and wait there until 12, when the festival officially opens. At three oclock we had to move outa the tent - so we went of some of the fair rides - before going to some random bars spread around the festival. One was even on a merry-go-round which was pretty cool.
Sunday we were again up super early to go back to the tents - we were first there - and got the first steins of the day in the Lowenbrau tent which was pretty cool!! Turned out to be quite a sunny day and we all ended up buying cheap sunnies that flashed lights - the lady selling them would have made a fortune that day!! We were at this tent from opening until closing - so didnt really acheive anything except for drinking this day!!
Monday - our last day in Munich - we decided we should do some sightseeing. We took a bus tour around Munich, before climbing hundreds of steps to the top of St Peter's church to have a look at the city! We then went and watched some people surfing, before catching a train back to the airport!
Anyway best carry on,
Take care, Luv Haylee and Paul
