Azza and I arrived in Brisbane on Thursday night, exhausted after our flight which took us via Sydney. We spent the next day trying to sort out our washing and other such exciting activities, before heading to the Gold Coast on Saturday morning. Azza had got us tickets to a festival called Good Vibes which she'd been to last year. We caught the train to Surfers Paradise, checked into our hotel (HOTEL!!! So nice!!! Somehow hostels can never match up...) and met up with Azza's friends who live just up the coast on the Sunshine Coast. The festival was absolutely fantastic! My highlight was Fatboy Slim who headlined, but the Presets, Yelle and Chromeo were really good too. We had a bit of rain when we arrived but it cleared up in the evening. Then all of a sudden, when Fatboy Slim came on, the heavens opened and it rained torrentially for the entire set! It was incredible! The whole field flooded but it made it really atmospheric, watching the laser show through the pouring rain. The following day we wandered around Surfers Paradise before catching the train back to Brisbane.

The next 10 days Azza and I spent exploring Brisbane and hanging out just like we used to at school! We visited the Brisbane museum which had a lot of interesting facts and some fun interactive activities we couldn't resist! We spent a few evenings on the Southbank which has a lovely relaxed atmosphere, beautiful views and lovely restaurants. On Friday evening they hold "Friday night street salsa" in the city which was great fun. A lot of very good dancers! But still a relaxed, fun atmosphere. We met a Dutch backpacker there and we all went to the Valley, one of the pub areas, and danced the night away. We went to the cinema and to play pool a few times, and of course we went shopping, but our favourite activity was playing cards whilst watching movies! I have been spreading the Gin Rummy love around the world as I travel, although I was corrected on my scoring whilst in Vanuatu. Deano, you'll have to watch out when I get back as your tactics won't work with the correct scoring method...! Tee hee!

Azza and I are off to the Whitsunday islands for 3 days which I'm really really excited about. Hamilton Island here we come!
