Arrived in Vegas! As soon as you step off the plane there are gambling machines everywhere even before you collect your bags! We made our way to the MGM Grand where we would meet up with my parents again. The hotel was huge the casino was the area of 4 footbal pitches and they have real lions that live in an enclosure! Met up with mum and dad they had had a great night the night before and we then checked into another huge room which was fab. The strip is 3.8 miles long and is filled with huge hotels each of them with different attractions some of them include Excalibur which is built like a huge castle, New York New York which is a hotel designed to look like the actual New York with a replica of the statue of liberty (this one also had a huge rollercoaster) Circus Circus that has circus acts perfmorming overhead whilst you play on the tables and machines and Vienetian which has a gondala you can ride inside whilst they sing to you, the list goes on there is that many they are amazing. You can go in and out of all the hotels you dont have to be staying with them, me and Joe went on the New York New York rollercoaster, which starts inside the hotel then takes you outside for amazing views though we were screaming that much we did not see anything!
That evening we had tickets to see David Copperfield at the MGM, we had great seats and the show was fantastic one of the illusion was where a car suddenly appeared on stage no idea how he did that! He picked me to go on stage for one of his acts I had to hold a real scorpion in a glass box while he did a card trick then the scorpion picked out the correct card was very strange! At the end he made 13 audience members disappear from the stage totally unbelievable stuff how on earth did he do that!
Next day we walked down the strip it really is awesome, huge and so much going on went in and out of some of the hotels. Me and Joe went into one of the hotels and decided to have a gamble on the Poker machines some of them are only 5 cents a go so you can sit on them for hours, the coctails waitresses come round and you can order any drinks for free coctails beer wine etc and you only have to tip a dollar how cool is that! My parents had been upgraded in their room and they had a huge sitting room aswell so we played cards and had some wine before going out for a meal.
Next day we went to find a hostel to check into for when my parents left managed to find one which was downtown cheap and cheerful. Went to an Irish bar for happy hour and a great meal then we went into the casinos to have a gamble on the roulette and the horse racing game which was my mums favourite one! Did not win anything a guy sat next to me on the roulette machine and won 7000 dollar in about two minutes, he was betting hundreds not like me with my 1 dollar bets!
It was thanksgiving the next day and my parents last morning as they flew home later that evening the time had gone so quick! We took the bus along to the Sin City hostel checked into the room then made our way to the other end of the strip to Mandalay Bay hotel where we would have thanksgiving dinner with my parents before they flew home. Mandalay Bay is very impressive it has it's own shark reef you can visit and its own beach! Thanksgiving meal was nice had pumpkin pie for the first time! Then we had to say our goodbyes to my parents we had really enjoyed our week with them it was great to see them again. They caught the taxi to the airport for the long flight home.
