after arriving in Kathmandu to pouring rain and 36 hours till my flight home, I caught a man city game and watched three movie's on my TV in the hotel room ( I decided to end my trip in luxury paying three times the normal amount which still only came to £9 ).well I say luxury it had its own bathroom ,hot water a double-bed and a TV so for me it was luxury.as the rain continued and took out the electricity I ventured out for my last Nepalese thali and some shopping (more tea some cashmere jumpers , Tibetan pray flags,a Buddha and a yak wool coat ).taxi to the airport at 6 with the usual shake down of the agreed price going up half way in to the journey (much discussion mainly on his part and he gave up with me agreeing a £1 increase) followed by an 8 hour flight and a mind-numbing 6 hour stop over in Doha .passing the time between spending all of my left over-money in duty free ,were an arab shiek purchased about 20 boxs of kit kats while balancing a large bird of prey on his arm which apparently he was boarding a plane with? maybe he had bought it a seat (still left with three currency's that I cant spend ) and sitting in a smoke filled glass box chain-smoking .the airport becomes a sterile waiting rooms between two contrasting worlds that don't seem real.looking forward to going home for many reasons but sad to be giving up my hobo life of adventure.sitting in quiet contemplation there's only two things I am certain of the real world and the responsibility's that go with it are much scarier than travelling in country's were you don't speak the language and occasionally have to sleep rough.and that I am coming back to Nepal to hike to Everest as weather, time and health stopped me.so as I wait for my plane i think about a quote written in felt pen on the back of a very dodgy toilet in a guest house in china . I find toilet poetry to be the only true form of free expression and occasionally quite profound ,it read
"backpackers never no were they have been and travellers never no were they are going"
