Happy Hippos on Holiday
Hi everyone!
Welcome to our first of many postcards from Argentina. You will hopefully have seen our Iguazu Falls postcard from Brazil (if not, you might like to read it before continuing...) Well, here's the second installment - this time from across the border in Argentina.
On this side there are several kilometres of cat walks that take you around, up to and over a few of the larger waterfalls, which kept us busy all morning. Following our Sheraton experience yesterday (where we felt so at home...so much so in fact that we nearly missed the last bus back to our 4 pounds a night hostel) we decided to return for a spot of lunch. This backpacking lark is all well and good, but every so often a girl's gotta spoil herself - believe the official term for such behaviour is "flashpacking". The lunch buffet was simply irresistable and we spent two and a half hours at the table overlooking the falls, while making the most of the opportunity to eat what we wanted from the huge spread on offer.
We then continued to explore the falls, by taking a speedboat trip right up to the thundering cascades, and indeed under a few! Needing to dry off from this soaking, we followed another hiking trail around one of the islands in the middle of the river at the bottom of the falls.
Experiencing the Iguazu Falls from two different countries and so many different angles has been a truly wonderful experience. While it is impossible to do it justice on film, we have certainly done our best to try to capture it...we promise to edit the innumerable photos we have taken before uploading them to the website!
Early start on the cards tomorrow as we head south to Posadas, from where we are hoping to add another country to our list. Watch this space...
Hope you are all well.
Take care!
love,
Zena & Kirstie
