This was the longest round trip I have ever done for a game of golf. However the opportunity to play in Pinehurst could not be passed up. The drive was almost 3hours to Talamore golf course, which is operated by Randy's friend from high school.
Before going out on the course, we went to the practice range. Here Randy set about trying to correct my swing. He gave me some very good advice, & I benefitted from the use of his slow motion camera to view my swing.
The course itself was in great condition , & there did not seem to be anyone else on it. Now this could have been down to the fact that it was HOT. We were literally cooking as we made our way round. The sun sapping our energy as we went. No surprise really when we teed off it was 12:00.
My second game in two months was much improved but I still have a long way to go to be consistent. At least now thanks to Randy I know where I am going wrong. At the fourth whole we invited in for a drink by one of the residents of the complex around the course. We grabbed a water & had a chat. It was once again my shirt that had caught the attention.
After the round we were baked, & tired. That did not stop us from visiting Pinehurst golf club. Featuring the number 2 course home of the 2014 US Open. We looked around the shop & the 18th before I grabbed a beer in the 91st hole.
The journey home was broken up by stopping for Japanese is Raleigh. Our food was sliced & diced in front of us. Steak, chicken & shrimp certainly hit the spot.
On the drive back Randy still had the patience to answer more of my golf queries. At ten at night we were discussing the best way to play out of a fairway bunker!
I'm sure there would be people who would base their whole holiday around getting a golf lesson at Pinehurst. I was very glad to been given the opportunity today.
