Phonsavanh is an interesting Soviet Union style town with heeps of war history. I arrived here 2 nights ago with Chris and Johannes. Yesterday was tough. Crisis over - Pai is awesome! really beautiful little mountain town. I ended up staing one more night in Bangkok. The Overstay was just too cool to leave! So I took a nighttrain to Chiang Mai on, um, monday night. It was 15 hours of 3rd class again but it was fine, I managed to sleep ok. Didn't find any couchsurfers who were actually in town so I checked in a hostel. Btw Chiang Mai is surprisingly touristic.
