Hannah's Great Adventure
Hello All
Oh my gosh, it's been so long where do I begin...
So I left Brisbane and headed up the coast, stopping at Noosa on the way to Hervy Bay. Noosa was awesome; I spent my days soaking up the sun watching the Surfing competition. Hervy Bay is the stop off place for Frasier Island - the largest sand Island in the world. I was reunited with Holly and Laura at the briefing for the trip; which was awesome as I was feeling slightly fed-up with traveling by myself. The following morning at 5am - I am so not a morning person - we loaded up the 4x4 and headed over to Frasier. My group was, how shall I put it, bloody awful. Apart from Holly and Laura of course. Germans, who'd have them!! But the Island was fantastic and the driving was pretty cool! Oh, Lake McKenzie... What I'd give to be back there now.
So once back on solid ground, Holly, Laura and I headed up to Airlie Beach. From Airlie beach we where due to 'Sail the Whitsunday's in a luxury catamaran' - Oh boy, brochures make me laugh.
However due to Cyclone Larry battering the east coast of Australia - The trip was immediately cancelled and we where all stranded in Airlie Beach with nothing more 'Magnums' to keep us entertained! Magnum's being a scummy bar where we were obliged to drink away the hours.
Although it is the place I met Patrick and Olivia (Lib) - my current traveling companions!! You couldn't help but notice Lib, but I'll leave that story for another day.
We eventually made it as far as Townville - quite possibly the worse place on the east coast - but the road up to Cairns was covered in 2 meters of water so all buses stopped running. Lib, Pat and I all had flights booked out of Cairns so decided to hire a car to drive up via the B roads. Holly, Laura and Danny (a crazy guy from Liverpool) just couldn't stand Townville anymore so came along for the ride. Cairns was awesome although a little rushed. We had one night in which to celebrate and commiserate Holly's Birthday and us all going our separate ways - But that's traveling I guess...
Once back in Sydney I spent my final couple of days shopping. The winter was setting in and I had no warm clothes! From Sydney I flew down to Tasmania to be reunited with Abby.
Tasmania was beautiful, the scenery is fantastic and the people are so lovely. Unfortunately Abby left the day after I arrived so I was unsure as what to do. Organized tours were really expensive and I didn't fancy hiring a car by myself. I met Ivo (he's German) at the 'Pickled Frog' Hostel in Hobart. He too was traveling by himself and offered for me to join him. He has his own car so we shared petrol costs and the driving. I had a fantastic week. We traveled down from Hobart to the most southern point. Then up to Port Arthur, Wineglass Bay, St. Helens, Launceston and finally Mole creek. We ended up sleeping in the back of his van - It was great - although I'm not sure Rob thinks so...
Next stop New Zealand!
So there's the low-down,
Hope your all ok
