So we were back on the coast and staying in a place called Legian which is just up the beach from Kuta. Pretty much the same as Kuta. Extremely busy with lots of bars and restaurants. A few days of beach and commercialism before we headed off to Bangkok!
Massive highlight was going to a beach side restaurant/club called Potato Head, recommended by Prodge as he'd been before on another trip. Our last night blow out meal before Alex and Prodge went back to Jakarta. Potato Head is in Seminyak which was the next stop along the beach. A very flashy place with very expensive hotels, trendy shops and just expensive everything! Worlds away from Kuta.
Potato Head was amazing! We had some fantastic food and drink. It had THE most incredible cocktail menu i've ever seen! Just to give you a little taster of the food. I had Wagyu beef burger with truffled mushrooms and Gorgonzola. DELICIOUS! It was all about the cocktails though. They were so yummy I shall list them below!...
I had a Champagne Supernova - Strawberry liqueur, strawberry purée, vanilla syrup, sparkling wine topped with strawberry foam and garnished with strawberries. (I want this again right now.)
Prodge had a Kookaburra - A mix of lemongrass gin and homemade vanilla sugar with mint leaves and fresh lime, layered with passion fruit and vanilla foam.
Tom had Prohibition Tea - Vodka, gin, rum and earl grey coke. This came with vodka-infused orange slices too! Also served in an awesome tea pot with dry ice pouring out of it!
Alex had a Millonaire Martini - Vanilla vodka and passion fruit liqueur with a champagne and passion fruit foam chaser.
I want to go back to Potato Head just so I can have more cocktails!! Siiiiigh.
So we had a few more days of chilling after Alex and Prodge left and we could start getting excited about going to Bangkok.
Slight boo boo on departure from Bali though as we overstayed our welcome by one day by accident. Well, by 2 hours. This apparently meant a fine of around £11 each. No biggy but Tom was NOT happy about it out of principal. I had to tug on his arm when he started getting overly irate with the very stern looking Indonesian official. You never know what they might do. Didn't want to end up being stopped from flying and imprisoned or something, no thank you! Managed to get our flight just in time in the end after all the faffing with the fine. Phew.
Next stop Bangkok!
